We had the open house for IWA (Institute Women's Association) the other night and Lauren and I decided we would take a try at the mechanical bull. She was more successful than me but if you notice in the picture of her it's because she was holding onto the back. It was fun though but stinkin hard!
I think I've told some of you about this great podcast that I found (I know I've made Lauren listen to it at least once). It's released three times a week and it's about a woman named Roz Savage who is rowing from San Francisco to Australia in a 20 foot rowboat to raise awareness for pollution in the oceans. She's doing this in three legs over three years. This year she's rowing from San Francisco to Hawaii and then next summer she row from Hawaii to Tuvalu and then the summer of 2010 she'll row from Tuvalu to Australia. The podcast is actually a 30 minute satellite phone call from Roz to tech talk show host Leo Laporte. She talks about where she is and how she's dealing with being in the middle of the ocean in a rowboat by herself and her reasons for doing this. I just think it's really interesting.
Anyway, to my request. She is trying to raise money for the second leg of her journey and one of the ways she's trying to get money is to try and get part of a $2.5 million grant that American Express is giving away. To do this she needs to get enough votes to put her in the top 25 of all nominated projects. If you have a minute please go to her web site: http://www.rozsavage.com/ and click on the Members Project link on the right side of the site and vote for her. You have to register but it's free to do so and you won't get any spam mail from it.(I haven't anyway and I registered over a week ago.)Thanks!
