Tri and Picture it.

My partners in crime. Sister-in-law Mel (Jon's wife) and my best buddy Marie. We look pretty happy considering we just put ourselves through a little taste of Hell. (Truthfully, I thought it was fun and I'd do it again next weekend if I could. But unlike Marie and Mel, I didn't really "give it my all." Therefore they ended up in the top 50% of about 300 female participants and I ended up in the bottom 15% :)
If you look close enough you can see a yellow cap rounding off near the dock. I'm pretty sure that is me. Swimming was the craziest part. People just swim right over the top of you. I swear a couple of people even pushed me down on purpose. I made the mistake of swimming sideways a couple of times. I was ticked about that. But my overall time was 30 minutes, right on line with my goal.
This is what killed my time. I took about 4 minutes to get out of the water and on to my bike. Ben was standing off to the side encouraging me to hurry up.
Coming home from my 12.4 mile bike ride. It was a gorgeous trail. Time: 54 minutes. I should have done better.

I sprinted across the finish line. The 3 mile run took me about 40 minutes, which is pretty good considering that is how long it takes me even without the swim and the bike before hand.

Like I said, it was a lot of fun. I chatted with some great people along the way. I loved training and am actually kind of sad I don't have this to look forward to anymore. I definitely recommend a Triathlon to anyone (there were people even more overweight than me doing it). I especially recommend it to people who tamper with the idea of running a marathon but just think it would be torture. A sprint Tri takes less time to complete and you get a nice break in your workouts cause there are three events instead of just one.

I'm so pleased with you! That is quite an accomplishment. I totally think that we should get you some kind of certificate or award! I think they do the swimming first so people don't drown. Maybe I'll consider it, but I doubt it anytime soon...I don't really have time to train for something like that with the boys...but maybe when I'm 50 and my 10 children are cheering me on the sidelines and calling Bizzie out for being a grump! Still love ya Biz!
