Food & Folklore help

Hey family--for my Food & Folklore class this semester I need stories. That is our assignment. Incidentally, here are two questions and if anyone has story answers I would love to hear them.

What stories does our family have about our favorite things we eat for dinner or whatever?
Do you know any stories about cannibalism? Personal, ones you've heard or read in news, or anything..doesn't even have to be "true".

Please respond asap as if you have an answer I want to use for class I have to have my story typed up by Monday night's class.

Whenever I hear of cannibalism I think of the Donner party. It's pretty much the only part of Utah history class that isn't also part of Sunday School.

Do other people learn about the Donner party in school?

We learned about it, but I don't think we probably did as in depth as Utah schools. I should look into that; thanks Liz!

Also, the island I served a mission on (Borneo, East Malaysia side) had head hunters as late as post WWII. I actually "shot" one of the head hunter guns. It's basically a six foot, finally tuned, bamboo sprout. You blow into the hole in one end, and a tiny dart shoots out the other side, killing the person you are hunting. Pretty crazy history. Though I was never really sure if they "ate" their game.

Not sure the timeline but the original inhabitants of Easter island were struck by a famine and something happened to the fish population around the island so they were literally left no other options. They started eating people in the caves under the island!
